My Garage Studio
My studio is located in my old, dilapidated, detached garage. The worst part is being exposed to the elements. The wiring is just 20 amps and can only handle my kiln and lighting, no heating or A/C. I even have to run my oxygen line for my oxygen concentrator from my house into the garage (a royal pain). I'm hot in the summer and cold in the winter but once you are involved with the glass, you become "somewhat" oblivious to your surroundings. (When it reaches 10 degrees or colder, I call it quits!)
This is one of my torches, my Hot Head (HH). It was my first torch and still my favorite. The glass stringers (thin rods of glass) are stored in tubular ice trays.
This is my kiln, where all beads are sent directly from the flame to be properly annealed for lasting durability. My glass is stored in shelving units inside 12" tubes of PVC which separates the colors and types of glass. I have several of these units in my studio.
This is my Carlisle Mini CC. This torch runs on a combination of propane and oxygen, which is regulated at the torch. It has a nice ambient heat which helps keep my hands warm in the winter! |
